Gone

I haven't disappeared or anything - I just haven't had a chance to post anything recently. There are two reasons; I lost my internet access at work and I have been watching piles of football (Euro 2004). As a quick update Girl got married today. I hadn't mentioned her much recently. I definitely sill have a major crush on her but I was never going to say anything. Maybe that makes me a coward I don't know, but there was absolutely nothing there to suggest she had any interest in me. In fact she almost completely ignored me for the last two months. I thought I'd done something to annoy or upset her but apparently she was very stressed about the wedding and her workload in the run up to it and was like that with most people. More proof that I wasn't someone that she even bothered considering a friend...

The last time I posted was before the Citizenship Referendum. Well the Yes carried the day as expected, but by a staggering 80:20 margin. The turnout was something like 60% and nearly 1.5 million of our citizens voted in favour of removing citizenship by birthright from the constitution. Just as significant is the fact that the margin was roughly 80:20 in every single constituency. Similar results were achieved in, for example, both affluent liberal South Dublin and rural West Cork. I must say I was disgusted. Bloodline citizenship is now the order of the day, citizenship by ethnicity. We clearly believe we are the Hibernio master race! I often accuse the rural dwellers of the country to be a bunch of inbreds but it looks like the whole country despises immigrants. I worry about the future. Will we end up with a BNP or Le Pen style racist party here?

I'm going on the beer now, it is Saturday night after all. I wonder if I'll score?...
